The door is the very first thing people notice about your property. It's the way into the house; it's where you receive your post and any other trade or delivery and is most probably visible from the street. Unfortunately, the door is one thing that can let an otherwise desirable property down.
A door is not simply to serve as a means of getting into and out of a property. It is there to keep the elements out, the heat in and prevent unwelcome guests from entering too, so a door must be secure. It really is your first line of defence!
Today, a door is not just a must have that ticks the above boxes; it can be so much more. The door can complement the rest of the property; it can update the property, making it look far more attractive and offers far more kerb appeal. Kerb appeal is incredibly important, particularly when you are trying to sell the property. If the door is battered and past its best, it will drag the rest of the property down. If it's clean, stylish and simply looks the part, prospective buyers are more likely to remain interested in the rest of the property.
Modern doors must clearly be safe and secure by design. You don't want a door that will give way at the slightest kick. All round shoot bolts and a superior locking mechanism will help to keep you and your family, not to mention your property safe from unwanted attention.
Doors can come in so many different designs, colours and styles. In fact, the range of doors today is so vast; there is a door to suit any type of property.
Simply because you want a traditional type of door doesn't mean to say that you have to opt for an old fashioned wooden door like years ago. Today, you can get that luxurious wooden and traditional vibe in bang up to date uPVC or metal core doors that will tick all the right boxes.
The colours are virtually endless, the styles and designs are also abundant and the level of security that these modern doors provide is second to none.
So, should you be in the market for a replacement door, why not drop us a line and let us introduce you to the many different and attractive doors we can supply and fit to make your property really stand out?
Potters Bar is situated on the Great North Road, one of two road routes from the City of London to the north of England. The road was originally numbered as the A1, and later the A1000.
Potters Bar used to be part of Middlesex and formed the Potters Bar Urban District of that county from 1934. From 1894 to 1934 its area had formed the South Mimms Rural District. In 1965 the district was transferred to Hertfordshire while most of the rest of Middlesex became part of Greater London.
The urban district covered an area of 6,129 acres. In 1939 it had a population of 13,681, increasing to 24,613 in 1971. In 1974 the urban district was abolished and the area became part of the borough of Hertsmere. Having been part of Middlesex, the area continued to form part of the Metropolitan Police District; with the creation of the Greater London Authority it was transferred to the Hertfordshire Constabulary in 2000.
Wrotham Park estate home of the Byng family sits within Potters Bar and Barnet on 2,500 acres of land. The Byng family still own a lot of land in the Potters Bar area and The Admiral Byng Pub in Darkes Lane is named after Admiral John Byng who was executed for failing orders in the Minorca campaign. Byng is best known for failing to relieve a besieged British garrison during the Battle of Minorca at the beginning of the Seven Years War. Byng had sailed for Minorca at the head of a hastily assembled fleet of vessels, some of which were in poor condition. He fought an inconclusive engagement with a French fleet off the Minorca coast, and then elected to return to Gibraltar to repair his ships. Upon return to Britain, Byng was court martialled and found guilty of failing to do his utmost to prevent Minorca falling to the French. He was sentenced to death and, after pleas for clemency were denied, was shot dead by a firing squad on 14 March 1757.
