Bifold doors sport large panes of glass and minimal framing; it's easy to see why some people love the way a bifold door opens up any living space.
With the new manufacturing technology, the opinion that bifold doors actually make a room colder has changed. Even the building regulations demonstrate that modern bifold doors do not cause a home to be colder.
Many people chose to have heavily lined floor to ceiling curtains over bifold doors anyway. This will not only offer greater privacy but reduce heat loss too. The fact that modern bifold doors are already thermally efficient, heavy curtains simply improve their heat retention properties.
Advances in double and triple glazing technology have contributed to bifold doors remaining a firm favourite. Add to this the sheer size of the doors and the gap they can cover, and you will see that they are a fantastic and stylish way of opening up your home. It's almost like taking an entire wall out, which gives you a delightful and airy feel to any room.
Our bifold doors feature triple weather sealing on all sash interlocks and continuous weather seals, allowing them to comfortably exceed the standard requirements for weather tightness on windows and doors in the United Kingdom. This also helps to maintain a comfortable temperature in your home and helps to keep your energy bills lower too.
Imagine having a gathering at home where people are in and out of the garden. A bifold door will clearly be able to open up a far greater area and facilitate a mixture of indoor and outdoor entertainment. You will no longer have to segregate some guests from others, as the interior and exterior of your property will effectively become one when bifold doors are fully opened.
Many people want a larger room in their home, and they can only achieve this by taking out a separating wall. This is great at creating a large living or dining area, but the downside of this is that you have effectively lost a room. A n interior bifold door will enable you to enjoy the vast area of two rooms as one, but still have the ability to close off the rooms, with the bifold door, and giving you back the privacy and intimacy of a smaller, separate room once again.
One of the earliest mentions of Bosci de Boreham, otherwise referred to as Wood of Boreham, is in 1188.
In 1188 Pope Clement granted to the kitchen of the monastery the whole land of Elstree. He also gave to the Abbey the wood of Boreham for the feeding of the swine.
In 1776, the House of Lords granted An Act for dividing and closing the Common or Waste Ground, called Boreham Wood Common, in the Parish of Elstree otherwise Idletree, in the Country of Hertford.
Up until 1909, Borehamwood was part of the ancient parish of Elstree; the two still share a local council, Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council.
From the 1920s onwards, the town became known as one of the main centres of the UK film, and later television, industries due to the presence of production studios.
Following World War II, the towns population greatly increased, with large areas of council housing set up for displaced Londoners, many of which are now in private ownership. Fast train connections to central London have resulted in the town becoming a primarily residential suburb. In 1946 the Admiralty started to build highly secret high performance electronic digital computers at Borehamwood in a redundant wartime factory, firstly for the purpose of real time gunnery control and later for surface to air guided weapons, missiles and specialist cryptography and code breaking computers for GCHQ.
In addition to the studios, the town is also home to many retail shops, offices and light industry.
